About 10 miles off downtown Boston in Quincy and in Braintree in Massachusetts can be found the Fore River Shipyard. The shipyard was formally known in the name Fore River Ship and Engine Building Company, long before its current owners bought the port asset in 2004. Fore River Shipyard was founded in 1884 by telephone inventor Alexander Graham Bell's former assistant Thomas A. Watson. In history, the shipyard is edged in history because it was the site where several popular warships were assembled. As part of its initiative to cope with the times, Fore River Shipyard is now seeking willing industrial tenants for both outdoor and indoor space. Despite the shipyard's recent change in management, ownership and leadership, it is notable that the current management is aiming to bring the vigor and vitality back to the shipyard. As to lure tenants to the port, Fore River Shipyard is offering an attractive and viable list of dock and port amenities, which include extensive deep-water space for berth, ample back-up and lay-down area, good and working rail system, rail connections, waterfront land and skilled laborers. As it is, Fore River Shipyard is hoping it could lure more industrial partners and tenants for its widening market coverage and targets. |
